Their longevity and day-to-day well-being, however, is largely dependent on their diet, lifestyle, and environment. For exotic birds to truly thrive indoors, they need the right cage and interior habitat.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Delicate Balance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Between the right style and size of cage, and what you place inside it, it\u2019s necessary to find the right balance. Plus, exotic bird owners should give careful consideration to the cage\u2019s location in the home, as well as regular sanitation of their bird\u2019s enclosure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The right exotic bird cage should be twice as big as their wingspan, in both width and height. Ideally, they have enough room to move around in and reposition themselves for the best views of the room. Also, it\u2019s crucial to allow for growth and activity levels throughout life stages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">All the Details<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Bar spacing of an exotic bird\u2019s cage should be narrow enough so they cannot become entrapped, but not wide enough so they can escape. Choosing between stainless steel and powder coated cages is a personal choice, just be sure you can easily disinfect the entire cage without too much disruption or interference.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hygiene Matters<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>An essential component of exotic bird habitat concerns cleanliness. To reduce bacteria inside the cage, food\/water dishes should be emptied and cleaned every day. Every surface inside and around the cage should be disinfected on a weekly basis, but be careful to only use bird-safe products.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cage\u2019s substrate should be cleaned just as often, and may need replacing every so often. Check the cage routinely for any wear and tear, broken parts, and potentially weak security.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interesting Stations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>An optimal environment for birds must include various perches, food\/water stations, and toys. An ever-changing combination can allay destructive behaviors and promote <a href=\"https:\/\/texasavian.com\/avian-care\/\">mental and physical wellness<\/a>. Change out sticks\/branches, rocks, and bird-safe plants to stimulate their senses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exotic birds enjoy foraging, chewing, climbing, and experiencing new flavors, textures, and sensations.
